IRAN MAKES CONTACTS WITH COUNTRIES IMPORTING OIL IN EUROPE
Iran does not feel cornered yet, but the fall of Syria represents a hard blow to the foreign relations of the Islamic Republic. Assad's Syria represented one of Tehran's main allies. In Syria there were pro-Iranian armed groups that had to leave the country, and in addition there was an Iranian intelligence base in Damascus. Iran is in a weak position compared to the time of the Assad clan…
The Iranian government has taken the first steps to restore its relations with Western countries. In the next few days, senior Iranian representatives will meet in Geneva with envoys from France, Germany and the United Kingdom. Tehran has warned that these are not negotiations, but conversations that could continue with larger events, leading to the negotiations that are suspended.
For Tehran, what happened in Syria was not the push of fundamentalist groups, led by the HTS, which brought down Bashir El Assad. In reality, seen from the capital of the Islamic republic, what happened was an intelligence operation mounted by Israel with the United States.
Everyone knew that Prime Minister Netanyahu, after Gaza and Lebanon, wanted a third war with Iran, considering it the “axis of evil.” Israel believed that by attacking Iran not only would the nuclear problem be eliminated, but the fundamentalist groups would be affected in order to continue existing. Donald Trump's electoral victory reinforced Netanyahu's position to enter into war against Iran, but the intelligence services (NSA and CIA) have convinced Trump that the best operation would be to use the fundamentalists to overthrow Assad and make the new Syria an interlocutor of the West to begin the change on that chessboard.
The new Syrian leaders have already met with a senior representative of Saudi Arabia, and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday on the first foreign visit by a representative of Damascus, as an initial step towards re-establishing relations with the rest of the Arab countries.
It is the beginning of an operation aimed at changing the face of the Middle East. Shaibani was re-elected
by Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed El Khereiji in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Al-Shaibani was appointed foreign minister on December 21 by Syria’s interim government, becoming the country’s first top diplomat since al-Assad’s overthrow.
We are in the era of change and one of the consequences is that Netanyahu has stopped talking about a third war with Iran. This goal is now out of place.
