CYNICISM AND LIES

Vladimir Putin and his right-hand man, Serguei Lavrov, have many things in common, but what distinguishes them all is their enormous cynicism and the trail of lies with which they have tried to justify a war, already bordering on genocide.

Putin lied blatantly when he claimed over and over again that he would not invade Ukraine. Shortly after he lied again, assuring that it was not a war but a "special operation". But this is a war, a war of devastation; of desired destruction of a country; of more than two million refugees; and so far more than a thousand dead: elderly, women and children. That is the history that the Russian dictator will not be able to erase and that places him among the great criminals of this world.

Lavrov is not far behind. He has also denied that they have unleashed the war; he has lied miserably saying that the Russians have not bombed or destroyed hospitals, maternity centers, buildings of all kinds. And there are the images that reveal the devastation in Kharkiv, Mariupol, Irpin and elsewhere.

And there is the image of a mother and her son murdered in the middle of a highway when they tried to flee: Two corpses, a suitcase next to them that will no longer be used for anything; a Russian missile that destroys them…

The fear of a third world war in the West allows Putin to continue devastating Ukraine. But not all US politicians and military agree. The "no fly-zone" should have been imposed by NATO. Putin is a madman, a schizophrenic but a nuclear war would also burn Russia to ashes. Would you have pushed the nuclear button? Most likely not; and in this case the confrontation between the Russian armed forces and NATO would have been of a conventional nature. This is what two former four-star American generals, Keane and Petreus, think in separate analyzes on Fox News and CN

Some have been outraged when Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called for someone in Russia, military or civilian, to assassinate Putin, a punishment he deserves. It is a hypothesis that surely will not happen. But with Putin in command, it cannot be ruled out that in one or several years the dictator will attack another neighboring country in his obsession to recreate a new empire.

For this reason, we must break any idea of having a dialogue with this individual again. A man who was taught to kill when he was in the KGB, and who is now killing on a massive scale.
