ISRAELI FORCES PENETRATE GAZA
A group of Tsahal tanks entered the Rafah perimeter this Wednesday, in what appears to be an advance for the military invasion of the Palestinian city, which Prime Minister Netanyahu maintains despite the fact that The UN, the US and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) have demanded that they not enter an area where more than 1 million refugees are located.
Netanyahu completely ignores these requests, ensuring that the occupation of Rafah is aimed at neutralizing the Hamas commandos that are in the city. All of this confirms that there is currently no “safe zone” for Palestinian civilians, neither in the north, center or south of the enclave.
In this sense, the Pulitzer Prize winner David Remnick made it known that, to understand the mental scheme of the Israeli prime minister, it is unavoidable to know some of the theses of his father, a supporter, for example, of supposed 'recommendations' such as rendering by hunger to the Palestinian people which, according to Remnick, he would have expressed during his years as editor of the Hebrew Encyclopedia together with his mentor Ze'ev Jabotinsky, father of contemporary Zionism.
A meeting of Qatar's Arab foreign ministers begins today in Madrid; Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al Thani; Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Egypt; Jordan; Ayman Safad; Türkiye; Hakan Fidan; Palestine, in addition to the person in charge for Foreign Affairs in the European Union, Josep Borrell and the secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference / OIC) Ibrahim Taha
The possibility of some Arab countries recognizing Israel if it accepts the ceasefire in Gaza will be studied at this meeting; the withdrawal of Jewish armed forces from the territory, while Hamas releases the hostages in its possession. Currently, only a few Arab countries recognize Israel, starting with Egypt and Jordan, signatories of two peace agreements decades ago, to which are added the countries part of the so-called Abraham Accords signed during the time of Donald Trump in the White House. and which include Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco and Sudan.
The Arab countries that have recognized Israel have done so without taking into account the peace plan established by Saudi Arabia and approved by the Arab League during the summit held in Beirut in 2002. This plan was endorsed in 2007 and 2017. The initiative proposes the normalization of relations and the signing of peace treaties between the Arab countries and Israel in exchange for Israel abandoning the territories that it has still occupied since 1967 and that belong to Palestine (the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem), Syria (the Golan Heights) and Lebanon (Shebaa Farms).
The Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, will attend the meeting in which he will defend having recognized Palestine, while the Minister of Defense. Margarita Robles has accused the Jewish government of carrying out “a real genocide” in Gaza. This qualification is supported by the deputy prime minister, Yolanda Díaz, whom Netanyahu has accused of defending Hamas and being anti-Semitic.
It should be noted, on the other hand, that Hamas is resurfacing in Gaza, in areas that Israel claimed to have “been cleared of terrorists.”
