FOX NEWS AND ITS PRO-PUTIN SPOKESPERSON
Tucker Carlson is one of the presenters
of the conservative North American network Fox News, whose audiences are
considered among the best in Prime-Time. Known is also his defense of former
President Trump, to whom he lavishes his best praise again and again.
In
reality, Carlson is part of the triumvirate of presenters (with Hannity and
Laura Ingraham) who daily put all the tares they can to discredit the president,
Joe Biden, and ensure that the United States was never better governed than
during Trump's only term. .
The most conservative society in America feels well
represented by this trio of journalists that allows the network to obtain
substantial profits from the big advertising companies. It goes without saying
that the Murdoch family, owner of the largest Anglo-Saxon audiovisual empire,
allows Carlson to maintain a radical line of the extreme right in accordance
with the results of listening.
But what some Fox supporters could not imagine is
hearing Carlson speak out on the war in Ukraine in defense of Putin and his
oligarch friends, claiming that it is the Ukrainians "who lie about the war." At
the beginning of the Russian aggression, Carlson allowed himself to say, without
blushing, that "Zelensky is a dictator and an obedient puppet of the US State
Department." And as if this were not enough, in another of his speeches he even
said that Ukraine "is not a democracy, just on the eve of a Senate vote
(Democrats and Republicans in unison) accusing Putin of having become a criminal
of war that would have to be prosecuted before the international court of
justice.
In reality, Carlson is merely repeating what Russia's ambassadors to
Europe and the US say, denying that it was Russian forces that destroyed
Mariupol and killed nearly 3,000 civilians. No, according to these obedient
diplomats it is the Ukrainians who have staged these scenes of destruction and
that the pregnant woman who died with her child in one of the bombings “was
actually a Ukrainian mannequin prepared to accuse the Russians of criminal acts
”.
In this framework of disinformation and propaganda, Carlson's speech is one
of the most emetic we have heard. But what can we observe, when among Fox
listeners there is no shortage of those who say that Carlson "is indeed a
propagandist who knowingly lies, because this is America after all"
