The Muslim New Year is on the first day of Muharram (first month of the Islamic calendar). In Arabic, the New Year is called "R'as as-Sana". Although this day does not have much of a religious background, many Muslims take advantage of the date to remember the life of the Prophet Muhammad and the Hegira or emigration that he made to the city known today as Medina.

The beginning of Muharram was on December 15.

for Christian readers arabinfocus wishes you a Merry Christmas and a good year 2023
