ARAB LEAGUE SUMMIT INTEGRATES SYRIA
The 32nd summit of the Arab League concluded in Jeddah will be remembered as the mark of the reintegration of Syria within the organization after 12 years of absence.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, said that the Jeddah Summit is taking place in a delicate circumstance in which the Arab and Islamic world faces challenges that require strengthening cooperation and solidarity and intensifying efforts and coordination.
Crown
Prince of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah voiced
his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King
Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman
bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their warm
reception and generous hospitality accorded to him and the accompanying delegation
during his participation in the meeting of the 32nd regular session of the
Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, attributing this to
the strength of the solid historical and fraternal relations that bind the two
countries and peoples.
In a
welcoming speech, the Secretary General of the Arab League, M. Ahmed Aboul
Gheit, noted
The
international scene is going through one of the most dangerous periods in
contemporary history...and I see it as a time of massive polarization and
competition between the major powers at the expense of the smaller or
unilateral powers... Therefore, the Arab countries, in this difficult
historical stage, have no choice but to adhere to Arab interests as a basic
criterion for international positions.. And to commit to coordinating among
themselves and to collective action is a sure way to strengthen the Arab bloc
in facing the pressures of polarization.
