JAPAN LOOKING FOR BETTER RELATIONS WITH SAUDI ARABIA, QATAR AND UAE

The Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, began today an official visit to three Arab countries (Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE) in order to strengthen their economic relations and establish a framework for permanent consultation on the evolution of the international political situation.

The trip is intended to help Japan develop its ties with Gulf Cooperation Council countries and build cooperation in various fields, particularly energy

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar are responsible for more than 80 percent of Japan's total crude oil imports, with the Kingdom representing 40.68 percent as of the beginning of the year.

Although Japan's cultural indices are very different from those in the Arab world, both sides want close relations, seeking a better understanding, even though the first factor between them is the acquisition of fossil energy,

Japan has the project of being carbon neutral in 2050, which forces it to have a greater range of alternative energies

King Salman paid a state visit to Japan in 2017 and met with the then Prime Minister, Abe Shinzo, to evoke the "Vision 2030" program. Unfortunately, Shinzo was assassinated on July 8, 2022, when he was giving a speech in the city of Nara.
