HAS HAMAS MADE A MISTAKE BY ATTACKING ISRAEL?

Attacking Israel within its own territory has undoubtedly been a desperate action by Hamas. But was it a mistake? Taking into account Israel's enormous military power, it must be admitted that the answer is affirmative: Hamas does not have armored cars or aviation. Rocket launches can never be decisive.

But the fight of the Palestinian fighters is a heroic fight for the honor of the Arabs. The Palestinian people have been suffering from Israel's aggression since the first war in the Middle East, in 1967. There have been more than half a century of despair and pain; to maintain the dream of an independent state, which Israel opposes.

The West, as usual, has always taken Israel's side, supporting it politically and militarily. His vision points out that the Jewish state is “the good one” and Hamas “the terrorist.” It is a vision that borders on complicity, because Israel commits aggressions and murders that can be considered acts of terror, and Hamas does not represent the entire Palestinian people.

Gaza's civilian population bears the brunt. In addition to the deaths of hundreds of people, there is also the massive destruction of homes. Israel has cut off electricity, food and fuel supplies. It is a decision that violates human rights.

Israel is not innocent because its reaction is a level of destruction that, due to its extent, cannot be justified. But the Jewish state has never held back from responding to an attack by Palestinian fighters. On the contrary, he uses all his strength without limits.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other Arab governments are trying to get the combatants to agree to a ceasefire and end the war, so far to no avail. On both sides, the dead now amount to 1,600. Hamas claims to have 130 military and civilian prisoners.

“We have only started striking Hamas,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a nationally televised address. “What we will do to our enemies in the coming days will reverberate with them for generations.”
