A CEMETERY FOR THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN
The United Nations described this Tuesday the situation in Gaza, constantly bombed by Israeli aircraft, as a "children's cemetery", referring in particular to the case of some 1,500 children who have lost their lives and which represents one of the worst crimes in Israel war.
The figures available to the UN, as of October 7, are at least 9,000 Palestinian civilians killed, including children, but this figure is undoubtedly below reality, in the opinion of the UN. agency for Palestinian refugees.
On Tuesday, the aircraft dropped six "made in the USA" bombs on the Jabaliah refugee camp, in the capital of Gaza, causing at least 50 victims, although hospital sources announce 100 dead. The injured are also a hundred.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refused to proclaim a humanitarian pause, although early today, Wednesday, it was announced that Hamas, Egypt, Israel and Qatar have agreed to an agreement to evacuate foreigners and Palestinian civilians from the enclave who have been seriously injured. Mediation between all parties has been facilitated by Qatar, which has also been in contact with the White House.
But the president, Joe Biden, and former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, maintain Netanyahu's position of not proclaiming a humanitarian ceasefire. Clinton declared that if he were to declare himself “it would be a gift to Hamas.” These words have caused a furor in the United Nations and other capitals.
Humanitarian groups have condemned Israel's attack on Jabalia refugee camp, saying the air raid should be a “wake-up call” to world leaders to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.
The director of the nearby Indonesian Hospital has said at least 50 people were killed and many others wounded in the attack; An Al Jazeera broadcast engineer lost 19 members of his family in the raid.
