QATAR AND FRANCE IN HELP FOR HOSTAGES
Once again, Qatar shows its mediation and humanitarian efforts, in an operation aimed at delivering medicine to the hostages still in the hands of Hamas.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said Tuesday the supplies would leave Doha, the Qatari capital, on two air force planes bound for the Egyptian city of Arish. At least one of the planes carrying the medicines landed in Egypt on Wednesday morning, and the deal to transfer the supplies was underway,
The agreement was reached with the participation of Mossad head David Barnea, who has been in Qatar to discuss the issue of supplying medicines to the hostages.” It said that the medicines were purchased in France, Qatari representatives will be responsible for the delivery to their “final destination.”
On the other side, The US’ Secretary of State Antony Blinken said a “pathway to a Palestinian state” is imperative to achieving genuine regional integration and ensuring Israel’s long-term security.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos on Wednesday, Blinken said Israel “will not get genuine integration, genuine security absent (a Palestinian state).”
He noted the changing mindset of leaders in the Arab and Muslim world who, he said, were more open to integrating Israel into the region, but the question remains: “Is Israeli society prepared to engage on these questions? Is it prepared to have that mindset?”
