AL JAZEERA CLOSED IN ISRAEL: SERIOUS ACT OF CENSORSHIP


Benjamin Netanyahu and his party, the Likud, had long been demanding the closure of the offices of the Al Jazeera network in Israel. Finally, the Parliament (Knesset) has supported them and the offices in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem will be closed. Israel thus shows its vision of freedom of information.

Netanyahu and his allies have accused Al Jazeera of “supporting terrorism.” A totally false accusation, without presenting the slightest detail to support it.

Al Jazeera does extraordinary and truthful work on the war in Gaza. It is true that he presents some Hamas videos, but at the same time he gives the floor to Nentanyahu, Yael Galant and other Jewish ministers, every time they intervene. It also shows the propaganda videos of the Israeli forces (Tsahal) and all the press conferences, including those of the military spokesperson.

  It is evident that this informational neutrality is rejected by Israel. Netanyahu demands that the TV channels installed in Israel only show information from official television; of the government and authorities. That is, to serve as spokespersons for the Jewish state if they want to remain in Israel. Al Jazeera has rejected this imposition that attempts to turn her into Netanyahu's spokesperson without giving the floor to other parties.

Naturally, Al Jazeera still exists and all Netanyahu does is close its offices in Israel and seize the material that exists there. As agreed by Parliament, the cutoff of the channel's signal will be applied for 45 days and may be extended. Israel will also block the chain's Internet sites in Hebrew territory.

But nowadays, the dissemination of information in various media/TV; Internet; social networks) is such that Israel's censorship serves no purpose, except to verify the nervousness and ill will of the Jewish prime minister who claims that Al Jazeera "threatens the security of Israel" by passing on information about Hamas. Something as absurd as it is malicious.

                ONE HUNDRED KILLED IN THE ATTACK ON A SCHOOL IN GAZA Genocide and war crimes continue in Gaza, although Prime Minister Netanyahu says he is willing to resume peace negotiations.
