GAZA: RESOURCE TO JOE BIDEN'S PEACE PLAN

Since the war in Gaza began, a series of negotiations have taken place thanks to the efforts of mediators. Qatar and Egypt, without unfortunately achieving the slightest result. The Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani; and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani have made the greatest efforts.

But all attempts have come up against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's obsession with continuing the war; talk about peace, but in reality continue with their objective of destroying the Palestinian environment and bombing the population without limits. To date, more than 40,000 Palestinians have died, many of them women and children.

So, we would have to ask ourselves, what are the negotiations for if what Israel wants is to continue with the massacres? In reality, Hamas has no shortage of reasons to ask, this Sunday, as it has done, that instead of negotiating, we discuss how to implement the peace plan presented by the US president, Joe Biden, on December 31. May.

Considered a “good path to peace,” Biden's plan contains three phases: The first supports a six-month truce, during which the hostages held by Hamas would be released, although it is not known how many remain. alive. The second phase includes a permanent ceasefire and the partial or total withdrawal of Israeli forces; and the third phase concerns the reconstruction of the territory that today is more than 50 percent destroyed.

As expected, Biden has presented his plan but has not put pressure on Netanyahu to accept it. Hamas, on the contrary, has declared itself favorable to the North American initiative.

Moving from negotiations to the discussion of implementing this plan would be a very important advance because this would mean that the end of the war is already on the horizon. Regarding the reconstruction of Gaza, the plan speaks of three to five years. Its cost, of course, is enormous.

The UN Security Council has also accepted Biden's plan through a resolution (14 votes in favor and Russia abstaining). At times, the American president claimed that Netanyahu told him that Israel would support the plan, but later claimed that “Netanyahu had lied to him.”

That is the way of acting of the head of the government of the Hebrew country: Not to bother Biden but not to pay attention to his offer and continue his own bread that is war without even pauses. And as for the hostages, Netanyahu clearly doesn't care much.

Negotiations are scheduled to return on August 15. While tensions continue due to the threat of a joint retaliation by Iran and Hezbollah to punish the Jewish state for the murders of leaders, one Palestinian and the other Lebanese, in Tehran and Beirut. The United States has indirectly asked Iran that its retaliation not escalate the war to a regional level, which would be catastrophic.
