NETANYAHU CLAIMS TO RESUME PEACE NEGOTIATIONS

The Israeli Prime Minister affirmed this Thursday that Israel will resume peace negotiations, with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, whose first objective is a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of the hostages who are still alive and in the hands of the radical movement. Palestinian, Hamas.

This decision coincides with the statements made by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Hezbollah movement, to “harshly punish Israel for the crimes committed by the Jewish state in Tehran and Beirut, violating the borders of both countries.

The Israeli Mossad assassinated the political leader of Hamas, Ismael Haniyeh, in Tehran, when he was attending the inauguration of the new Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian. In Beirut, Fuad Suhukr was murdered. Military leader of Hezbollah.

Iran and Hezbollah have promised to “punish” Israel for these murders, which have represented a very hard blow to the so-called “axis of resistance” that combats Israel's hegemony in the Middle East.

The United States and European countries have asked Israel not to contribute to a catastrophic situation if the war spreads in the Middle East. They cannot avoid retaliation from Tehran and Hezbollah, but they try by all means to prevent the war from becoming in a regional conflict.

Netanyahu has not spoken of a ceasefire, but of a truce. Iran and Hezbollah affirm that they will not be satisfied with this decision, which they describe as unimportant, and assure that the release of the hostages who are still alive must coincide with a ceasefire.

It must be taken into account that Ismal Haniyeh has been replaced by Yahya Sinwar, who unlike the first does not live in exile, but has resided in Gaza since 2017. Another difference is that Haniyeh was a reformist, while Sinwar is a radical who advocates maintaining the war with Israel and continuing the attacks against the Jewish state.

Nobody wants the war to continue but some analysts consider it inevitable. The worst scenario is that Iran attacks Israel in retaliation, and Netanyahu will return to attack the Islamic republic. This scenario will lead to a regional conflict from which no one will benefit.

And the most regrettable thing is that Netanyahu continues to order “Tsahal”, the Jewish forces, to continue launching bombs and missiles on Gaza. This Thursday, two schools were attacked, causing at least a dozen deaths. The images broadcast by the “Al Jazeera” network are terrifying: large blood stains on the floor and seriously injured children that the health services of the Al-Aqsa hospital are trying to save, without being able to save all the injured.

Apparently, peace negotiations will resume on the 15th of this month, and the American president, Joe Biden, has revealed a request to Netanyahu to make concessions and reach some type of agreement that is not a simple truce.

The current situation will take a different turn when Iran and Hezbollah fulfill their promise to jointly attack Israel in retaliation for the murders of Haniyeh and Shukr. The opinion of the Arab populations impatiently awaits Israel's “punishment.” Hatred on both sides has grown in recent weeks, which of course does not worry Netnyahu too much.
