ELEVEN MONTHS OF PAIN AND MASSACRES

The Gaza war has been 11 months of pain and massacres, with Israel showing its capacity to destroy the Palestinian enclave and its contempt for the deaths of civilians, journalists and foreigners, with a figure that reaches 44,000 victims.

This conflict will go down in history as one of the most brutal committed by Israel, although it must be stressed that its origin has been a massacre carried out by the extremist Hamas movement. A terrorist action that caused 1,200 Jewish victims, in addition to some 240 captives.

All attempts to negotiate the release of the captives have failed, despite the efforts made by the mediating countries: Qatar, Egypt and the USA. And if they have failed it is due to Israel's refusal to negotiate a truce within the three-phase peace program submitted by President Joe Biden. Prime Minister Netanyahu, who does not hesitate to talk about peace, is the main cause of this tragedy.

The United Nations has accused Israel this week of maintaining a line of “starvation” against the civilian population. The Palestinians do not receive enough food and other necessities and there have been cases of children dying because of the hunger they have suffered.

This policy of terror that Netanyahu maintains, although he denies it, is a total violation of humanitarian laws and human rights. Israel not only bombs the Palestinian enclave, but even tries to subdue its inhabitants by denying the entry of sufficient food. This is a fact confirmed by international observers.

Terror also affects journalists. Nearly 60 have died from shots fired by the Israeli armed forces who do not pay attention to the fact that the reporters bear the indication of their profession and even wear bulletproof vests. It is of no use to them, because the Jewish military launches high-powered missiles and bombs that cannot be stopped by these defenses.

As Israeli forces withdrew from the West Bank city of Jenin a few days ago, the level of destruction left by Israeli forces while occupying this place, which is home to one of the largest refugee camps, has become clear. Jenin now appears as a carbon copy of the destruction in Gaza.

On Friday, 33 Palestinians were killed in an attack on a school in central Gaza and elsewhere in the enclave, according to counts made by Palestinian health media.

A Turkish activist with an American passport, Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, was also killed when Israeli forces were suppressing a demonstration in the West Bank city of Nablus. As always with the deaths of foreigners, Israel has promised to investigate the case, which generally has no results.
