HEZBOLLAH ANNOUNCES NAIM QASSEM TO BE NEW TOP LEADER
The radical Lebanese movement, Hezbollah, announced today that the cleric, Naim Qassem, will be the new leader of the organization after the assassination of his predecessor, Hassan Nasrallah, who lost his life in one of the bombings of the Israeli air force on Beirut on September 27.
Qassem was Nasrallah's lieutenant, so it seems that his appointment is due to his hierarchy and the fact that he always supported Nasrallah's line of action, based on confronting the incursions of the Jewish army on Lebanese territory, as well as supporting Hamas, especially after Israel began its genocidal action in the Palestinian enclave.
Israel, through the mouth of the Minister of Defense, Yael Gallant, assured that Qassem is now one of the main objectives to eliminate. "His presidency will be temporary," he said in this regard. The policy of physically eliminating those it considers its “enemies” is one of the main aspects of the intervention, inside and outside Israel’s borders, of the Mossad intelligence services.
He is 71 years old and is one of the founders of the organization. He served as deputy secretary and was an active spokesman since his predecessor, Hassan Nasrallah, reduced his public appearances in 2006.
In a statement issued by the Hezbollah leadership, the group said that “in accordance with the approved mechanism for the election of the secretary general, the Hezbollah Shura Council agreed to elect His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem as Hezbollah’s secretary general, carrying the blessed banner on this trip, asking God Almighty to guide him in this noble mission at the head of Hezbollah and its Islamic resistance.”
