TRUMP-HARRIS: A SIMILAR VISION ON THE ARAB WORLD?
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the Americans will elect their new President for a period of 4 years. On this occasion, it is worth analyzing what the position of both is on the relations of the USA with the Arab countries. First of all, it must be taken into account that Washington's interests concern in particular the enormous potential in natural gas and oil of these nations; their enormous financial reserves and their capacity to carry out large investments.
But in the political framework, and specifically in the Middle East region, the situation is clear: Trump and Harris will support Israel and continue to assist it with billions of dollars annually, to guarantee its military power over the Arab armies and that of Iran. There will therefore be no change in this alignment and complicity with the Jewish state.
There will be nuances, which are undoubtedly important: Trump is one of Israel's greatest accomplices and supports without a doubt the wars undertaken by the Hebrew government: those in Gaza and Lebanon are the latest. But Prime Minister Netanyahu prays to his God for Trump to triumph and thus also enter into armed conflict against Iran, which they describe as "the axis of evil."
Harris does not intend to deviate too much from the moderate line of the now ex-president, Biden. It is not that Harris is in favor of the Palestinians, although she said so when she was a senator for California (2017-2021). If she wins the presidential elections, it is not to be expected that she will declare herself in favor of the Palestinians, although she will continue to support the two-state solution. The problem is that Israel rejects the existence of an independent Palestine.
The vote of Latinos and African-Americans will be considerably effective in these elections. The former prefer Harris, since Trump is an open enemy of clandestine emigration. African Americans are divided in favor of one candidate or the other.
The center and the right of the American political apparatus are in favor of Trump. There is no doubt about that. If we make calculations based on the different ethnic tendencies of Americans, Trump would win the election by a small margin over the figures obtained by Harris.
The Arabs will not win with Trump or Harris. Israel will continue with its expansionist police and the Muslim world will have to adjust to another four years in which little or nothing will change in its relations with the new tenant of the White House. The Arabs aspire to respect and to be treated as friends and allies of the United States, without having to pay a price in gold bars or barrels of crude oil for it.
