GAZA WAR ON THE FINISH LINE
President-elect Donald Trump told his advisers today that the Gaza war and the release of the hostages held by Hamas “are in the final stretch,” diplomats accredited in Doha told ARABINFOCUS on condition of anonymity.
The plan that will end the war has been the subject of talks between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, and on that basis the negotiators from Qatar, Egypt, Israel and the US, who have also contacted Hamas, have reached an agreement that must be signed in the next few hours.
But it remains unclear whether the ceasefire that will allow the release of the hostages will become a complete ceasefire. In any case, as we said yesterday, Trump has informed the president in office, Biden, of all the details.
Next week, Trump enters the White House and hopes that before then he can proclaim himself the man who ended the war in the Palestinian enclave, which has caused the death of at least 46,000 Palestinians.
Trump has told his advisers that he has done his duty and what he had promised” and considers himself satisfied, while Netanyahu has received “guarantees” that Hamas could not “reborn from its ashes”.
In any case, Israel remains, according to the plan, ready to resume fighting if Hamas violates what was agreed between the negotiators. One of the men who has worked most on the plan has been the Qatari Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
In Doha, the chiefs of Israel’s Mossad and Shin Bet spy agencies were also informed by Qatar’s prime minister.
The door has been left open to peace although Israel continues to send bombs and missiles into Gaza in an example of “military superiority”.
