ISRAEL HAS A FREE HANDS IN GAZA
It is clear that Israel continues to attack various places in Gaza on a daily basis, especially in the north and east of the country, without causing any reaction from the leaders of the Western countries, who are complaining but are unable to demand that Israel reach a truce as soon as possible.
At least 26 Palestinians died this Friday due to the bombings of the Jewish forces in the center of the Palestinian enclave. This brings to 45,581 the total number of Palestinians killed since Israel began the genocide in Gaza on October 8 last year. The Hebrew Prime Minister, Netanyahu, said days ago that “there will be no mercy” in the military operations carried out in Gaza.
This Friday, talks between the parties involved in the conflict are expected to resume in order to reach at least a truce. Israel announced that a delegation from the Mossad, the Jewish intelligence services, will travel to Doha to take part in this meeting, which is not known whether it should be considered as talks or negotiations with the other parties involved.
The negotiators have met numerous times in Doha, Paris and Cairo, without even reaching an agreement that would allow the release of the hostages held by the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. The Palestinians want Israel to commit to a complete ceasefire, while in Tel Aviv there is only talk of a short-term truce.
This is the Gordian knot that has not been untied because, clearly, neither side wants to take that step. And it must be taken into account that it is the case of Syria that has become the head of the problems that currently dominate the Middle East region.
During his trip to Damascus on Tuesday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said that his mission was to ask the new Syrian leaders to stick to a line of peace and democracy and that Western countries commit to establishing normal diplomatic relations as soon as possible.
