THE DIPLOMACY OF DECEPTION
There is a belief in the world that diplomacy, working secretly on real bases, provides analysis that contributes to the stability of one or another country. False! Diplomacy is the art of deception, which lies and uses half-truths to benefit its true objectives.
The case of Ukraine is the latest to prove this. Since 2018, the former Secretary General of NATO, Stotenbelr, has been promising Zelensky that his country would be a member of the organization. He told him so many times that the Ukrainian president became sure that he would soon belong to this great political-military force.
In reality, NATO never intended to incorporate Kiev. It already has enough borders with Russia, and if those of Ukraine were added, it would provoke a dangerous reaction from the president, Putin.
Although it does not say so, NATO wants Ukraine to return to its neutral position, and even pro-Russian if the history of that region is taken into account. Ukraine has never separated itself from its Russian affinities, even if Zelensky says otherwise.
Ursula von der Leyen would also make another mistake if she were to allow Ukraine to join the European Union (EU). That would not create any problems with Moscow. But the dangerous thing is that Kiev is not politically ready to be the 28th member of the EU. Ukraine lacks the democratic conditions necessary to integrate into a United Europe. That is the truth even if diplomats claim otherwise.
That is why President Trump, with Putin's agreement, has excluded Ukraine and the EU from the talks taking place in Riyadh between Russians and Americans, to prepare for the Trump-Putin summit.
And French President Macron, who is not an idiot, has noticed this isolation and has called a European summit in Paris next Monday. Macron knows that the Twenty-Seven must prepare for the changes that Trump and Putin are preparing for Eastern Europe.
