UN Report Accuses Israel of 'Genocidal Acts' in Gaza
Once again, the United Nations has released a report on the situation in Gaza, in which it accuses the Jewish armed forces of having committed "acts of genocide" that must be internationally condemned.
The report, released this Thursday, highlights that Israel is responsible for the genocide of Palestinians, including destroying hospitals, schools, and committing sexual violence, all within the framework of a deliberate strategy of war without limits or humanity.
"Israeli authorities have partially destroyed the reproductive capacity of the Palestinians in Gaza as a group, including by imposing measures intended to prevent births, one of the categories of genocidal acts in the Rome Statute and the Genocide Convention," said the U.N. Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel.
Accusations against the Hebrew state are common in international organizations. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is one of the institutions that even demand punishments against Israeli perpetrators.
The report accused Israel's security forces of using forced public stripping and sexual assault as part of their standard operating procedures to punish Palestinians following the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel in October 2023.
This is a situation that, from an international perspective, has no way out, as the entire world knows about the existence of genocide and the ongoing war crimes committed by Jewish leaders following the terrorist attack committed by the military wing of the Hamas movement on October 7, 2003.
As for a solution to the conflict based on two states living peacefully, it also does not seem likely that it will ever be achieved, given that Israel believes that this hypothetical Palestinian state would be controlled by Hamas, which still represents a significant radical movement.
"The IDF (Israeli Defense Force) has concrete directives ... and policies which unequivocally prohibit such misconduct", the permanent mission to the UN in Geneva responded in a statement, adding that its review processes are in line with international standards.
A previous report published by the Commission in June 2024 accused Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups of serious rights violations in the October 7, 2023 attack. In March last year a team of United Nations experts said there were "reasonable grounds, opens new tab to believe" sexual violence, including rape, occurred at several locations during the militant group's assault.
