TRUMP: AN ACCIDENT OF HISTORY?

With his volatile character, his proven racism, his lies and his eternal sarcasm, Donald Trump will possibly go down in history as the most controversial and even detested president in the ranks of his party. But his presidency is an accident of history? Some American politicians think so, but others deny it. For the latter Trump is the result of a logarithm created by the "establishment", in which the interests of the powerful industrial, military and energy class dominate.

For the French ambassador in Washington, Gérard Arnaud, it would be a simple fantasy to imagine that Trump is an accident. It would not be because a president needed to put body and soul next to Israel; abandon the idea of seeking a compromise acceptable to the Palestinians; he detests a marked emigration of all the evils that great America suffers, and ostensibly shows his attachment to white supremacy.

Let's see the results: In the Middle East, his emissary and political son, Jared Kushner, is an inept, as the French ambassador indicates. He does not know the history of that region and assumes that his mission is to support Israel at all costs. What the Palestinians think is of little interest to them, because the rules of the game are marked by Israel.

Nor has he moved a finger to advise Netanyahu not to annex the occupied Golan or the trail of colonies in the West Bank. Ambassador Arnaud considers, therefore, that with his backs so well guarded, the Israeli prime minister will not make the slightest concession to the Palestinians. The Oslo agreements are well dead.

In the same record of concessions to Israel, Trump wants to bring Iran to its knees. It is no longer enough for him to have withdrawn from the nuclear agreement with Tehran, signed in 2015 together with Russia, China, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. Now we must prevent Iran from selling a single drop of oil. Western companies that trade with Tehran have been blacklisted and are subject to reprisals. International law, the rules of world trade, Trump skips cheerfully, and congratulates himself for it.

Hailed by his security adviser, John Bolton, a hawk among the hawks, Trump also ignores international organizations. It has already abandoned UNESCO and the UN Council on Human Rights, and would be willing to leave the UN if it were not because it resides in American territory.
In another area, the Trump era will also be remembered for having abandoned in 2017 the international agreement on climate signed in Paris in December 2015. The American president does not mind denying the warnings of scientists about the global warming of our planet. If a cold wave hits New York, as it did at the beginning of the year, he naively declares: "You see how the weather does not heat up!"

The report presented days ago by the special advisor, Rupert Muller, on an alleged interference by Russia in the 2016 presidential election, which saw the victory of Trump, does not explicitly condemn the president, without completely exempting him from having benefited from the operation manufactured by Russian intelligence.

The Russian hackers managed to get 50,000 emails from John Podesta, head of the presidential campaign of Hilary Clinton, communicating them to Julian Assange to be published in Wikileaks. This action hurt the candidate of the democratic party and ahead of Trump in the final result of the elections. The president maintains that at no time does the Muller report reveal the existence of a collusion between his team and the Russian presidency.

In the ranks of the Democrats some have said they would not oppose a Trump recall operation, but this idea has little chance, if not nil, to prosper. Nancy Pelosi, the president of the House of Representatives, opposes this, in addition to negatively affecting the entire political class.
