TENSION IN THE MAGHREB Morocco has shown its irritation and disagreement with Tunisia, after its president, Kais Saied, received the leader of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, with honors at the airport. The Saharawi leader was invited to a meeting between Japan and African countries, known as the "Tokyo Summit for Development in Africa" (TICAD) Tunisia justified the invitation to Ghali by having previously attended this summit on other occasions. Ghali was also invited to the summit between the European Union and Africa, which took place in Brussels last February. But the problem is that Morocco considers Ghali a "terrorist" for leading a movement (Front Polisario) that rejects Morocco's proposal for autonomy for the territory of Western Sahara. Tunisia says it is neutral in this conflict, but Ghali's presence ...

RUSSIA AND ALGERIA WILL HOLD JOINT MILITARY MANEUVERS   Russian and Algerian military forces will hold joint transported maneuvers in the border region with Morocco, according to "Menadefense", a media specialized in Defense whose sources are usually well informed. It is expected that this joint military exercise will take place next November in the Hammagir area, belonging to the province of Bechar, in the southwest of the country. This will be the second time that this type of operation will take place, after the first exercise carried out in 2021 in North Ossetia, belonging to the Russian federation; and in a certain way it will break the traditional historical position of Algiers of not allowing the presence of foreign troops in its territory. Its justification would be based on the fact that it is not a permanent presence, as is the case in Syria, but for the limited time of some maneuvers. Algeria has considerably increased its dependence on Russian weapons, which acc...

MOHAMED VI IN A POSITION OF STRENGTH? Once again, the King of Morocco has claimed ownership of Western Sahara; a territory that does not correspond to it neither by law nor by history. In 1975, the Spanish government ceded the administration to Morocco and Mauritania, reporting it to the United Nations. It could not cede sovereignty because it did not have it.  Since then, the UN has kept the Western Sahara in the fourth commission dealing with Decolonization. The United Nations maintains that the territory must be submitted to a self-determination referendum (for this purpose, the MINURSO was created and a special envoy was appointed) and also advocates a negotiated solution between Rabat and the Polisario Front that can be accepted by both, which which in the current circumstances does not seem to be possible. The recognition of the Moroccan nature of the territory by the president, Donald Trump, was a singular accolade to Morocco; this is evident and cannot be denied. But ...

ISRAEL HAS COMMITTED 50 HOLOCAUSTS In a statement made in Berlin after meeting Foreign Minister Olaf Scholz, the president of the Palestinian National Authority, Magmoud Abbas, pointed out that, since 1947, Israel has committed "50 holocausts" in the Palestinian territories. Scholz listened to these words with a look of astonishment but declined to comment. The words of the Palestinian leader seem excessive, but they attend to a reality that the Jewish state tries to hide. In the Palestinian territories, Israeli forces have committed assassinations, kidnappings and violence. Perhaps Abbas's words may seem excessive and motivated by emotion, but they correspond to at least a large part of reality considering Israel's behavior in the occupied territories.

S IX CHILDREN KILLED IN GAZA Airstrikes by Israeli forces on Gaza, which began last Friday, have killed 32 people so far, including six children, according to Palestinian sources. Israel is the aggressor and, as always, is justified by its campaign against the Islamic Jihad group, without recognizing that the Jewish action can be considered state terrorism. The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it was preparing for "a week" of raids on Gaza, targeting the Islamic Jihad, which it said killed 15 fighters. Among them, a commander-in-chief, Tayssir Al-Jabari, killed on Friday in Gaza City, and Khaled Mansour, whose death the Islamic Jihad confirmed on Saturday during a strike on Rafah (south). In total, it killed eight people, according to the Gaza Interior Ministry.

I SRAEL: TERRORIST ATTACK IN GAZA The Jewish state continues to practice state terrorism against the Palestinian people. His last action was carried out on Friday when he bombed Gaza with the aim of assassinating a leader of one of the radical Palestinian factions. This operation took place after having arrested in the West Bank, last Monday, another Palestinian radical that Israel considers a member of Islamic Jihad. Egypt is mediating again to prevent a military escalation. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz visited communities near Gaza earlier on Friday, saying authorities were preparing “actions that will remove the threat from this region,” without elaborating. Palestinian health officials reported that at least 10 people died and 55 were wounded in an initial barrage which killed the commander of Islamic Jihad, Tayseer Jabari, in t...

PROVOCATION Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the United States Congress, arrived in Taiwan today, thus fulfilling an act of provocation that will have serious consequences for relations between Beijing and Washington. Taiwan belongs to China; the international community recognizes this and this visit by US policy should not have taken place so as not to worsen the international situation even more, with the war in Ukraine as a background. The president, Joe Biden, should have imposed his veto on this visit. He has not done it and in this way he has shown a gesture of weakness, although the Democratic media affirms the contrary. The US government, which claims not to want to provoke Russia in the Ukraine, instead provokes China without giving it any merit. On the contrary, creating a framework of tension with China was neither necessary nor useful for anything since, after all, the most sensible thing ...

AL-ZAWAHIRI KILLED IN KABUL The head of the terrorist group Al Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was physically eliminated on Sunday, July 31, by the United States Army, in an action carried out by a drone that launched two Hellfire-type missiles when this individual was in the balcony of his residence in Kabul, the Afghan capital. US President Joe Biden confirmed the attack and welcomed the elimination of the terrorist. 'Justice has been delivered,' said Biden in an intervention from the White House. On May 2, 2011, US forces killed the main leader of Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, in another attack, this time by a helicopter commando, at his residence. And in October 2019, the "caliph" of the group, Abou Bakr al-Baghdadi, was also eliminated. Al-Zawahiri had settled in Kabul thanks to the support of the most radical faction of the Taliban, led by Serajuddin Haqqani, who serves as Minister of the Interior in the current Taliban ...
