In a statement made in Berlin after meeting Foreign Minister Olaf Scholz, the president of the Palestinian National Authority, Magmoud Abbas, pointed out that, since 1947, Israel has committed "50 holocausts" in the Palestinian territories.
Scholz listened to these words with a look of astonishment but declined to comment.
The words of the Palestinian leader seem excessive, but they attend to a reality that the Jewish state tries to hide. In the Palestinian territories, Israeli forces have committed assassinations, kidnappings and violence.
Perhaps Abbas's words may seem excessive and motivated by emotion, but they correspond to at least a large part of reality considering Israel's behavior in the occupied territories.
