
LEBANON AND ISRAEL SIGNED AGREEMENT Lebanon to Israel signed this Thursday the agreement that establishes its maritime border and allows the exploitation, separately, of the gas fields listed in that geographical space. Israel believes that the agreement means that Lebanon recognizes it as a sovereign state, as other Arab countries have done. But the Lebanese president, Michel Aoun, has reiterated that the agreement is of an economic nature and has no political repercussions. Beyrouth will not recognize Israel. Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Hezbollah movement, has stated on his behalf that the agreement does not constitute recognition of the Jewish state.
