In a new attack on a refugee camp in Jenin, in the occupied territories, Israeli forces killed 9 Palestinians on Thursday and injured twelve others, the Palestinian national authority reported in Ramallah. Four of the injured are in critical condition.
An elderly
woman has been reported among the dead, according to Palestinian officials, in
one of the deadliest days in the occupied West Bank since Israeli raids
intensified at the start of last year. General strikes have ensued in Jenin,
Nablus and Ramallah with schools closing early and stores shut.
According
to Al Jazeera, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces during raids
in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem in January has risen to at least
29 people, including five children. At least 15 of those killed were from
Jenin.
