ANOTHER PALESTINIAN DIES IN HUNGER STRIKE

The death of a Palestinian prisoner does not move the West, as if nobody cares. For Israel this death is no longer news. After all, so many Palestinians have been shot dead by Tsahal in Gaza and the West Bank!

After 87 days on hunger strike, Khader Adnam, 45, died in an Israeli jail sparking a wave of protests in the occupied territories and Gaza. Israel claims that it wanted to give Adnam medical attention but he refused to be treated. This information could not be confirmed from impartial sources.

He was detained in February on suspicion of membership in a terrorist organization, support for terrorism and incitement, Israeli authorities said. He had not been tried at the time of his death.

Following news of his death, Palestinian political parties announced a general strike in the West Bank in mourning for Adnan, with the shuttering of courts, schools, universities and shops.

Khader Adnan was arrested 12 times and spent about eight years in Israeli prisons, most of it under so-called “administrative detention”, in which Israel holds Palestinians on “secret evidence” for renewable six-month intervals without trial or charges
