QATAR AND FRANCE TOGETHER FOR PEACE IN GAZA
HH The emir of Qatar, Cheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, will arrive this afternoon in Paris on a state visit, to examine with the French president, Emanuel Macron, the ways that can lead to a ceasefire in Qatar that will serve to prevent Israel's announced ground offensive against Rafah, where 1.3 million Palestinians have found refuge.
Macron and the Emir, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, know each other very well and share the same views on the situation in the East and the world economy, an official from the Elysee presidential palace informed ARABINFOCUS.
France and Qatar will work together to send humanitarian aid to Gaza that includes 10 ambulances and more than 300 tents for Palestinian refugees. The two countries have sent a large amount of food, medicine and other items that refugees greatly need to the Palestinian enclave.
Today a large gala dinner will be held to which, among other personalities, the president of the Paris Saint Germain club, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, and the French footballer, Kylian Mbappe, are invited.
On the second day of the state visit on Wednesday, Prime Ministers Gabriel Attal and Mohammed bin Abdelrahmane Al-Thani will chair an Economic Forum on investment opportunities between the two countries in artificial intelligence, decarbonization, semiconductors , biotechnology and health.
The two countries will also relaunch their cultural relations with an upcoming visit by the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, to Qata
In the talks between the Emir and the French president, special attention will be given to the situation of the hostages who remain prisoners of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, and whose release is the subject of negotiations between Qatar, which acts as mediator, Israel and Egypt. US President Joe Biden considers that these negotiations are at a positive point.
