USA: STUDENT REVOLUTION IN FAVOR OF GAZA

Universities in the United States have risen up in a series of demonstrations in favor of the Palestinian people of Gaza, while demanding that rectorates break their relations with Israeli educational centers.

The demonstrations do not stop. They began at the University of Clumbia and the last to be associated with the demonstrations was that of George Washington in the federal capital. These actions remind us of the great uprisings against the Vietnam War in years past.

The North American police have already arrested a hundred university students, but they do not stop the protests. They have set up tents on campuses where they spend the nights amid chants and protests.

There is no doubt that this action by the university students is not going to bring down the president, Joe Biden, who is opposed to the students, but at least they are a cry addressed to the American people to denounce the genocide that Israel maintains in Gaza.

The Jewish students falsely claim that they are in danger, but the protesters have never bothered them. The protests are not directed against them, but against the racist Hebrew government of Netanyahu, who opposes a ceasefire.

The American students are not demonstrating for Hamas, but for the Palestinian civilian people who already suffer more than 34,000 deaths from bombings by Israeli forces.

What the university students demand is that the massacres of the Palestinian population of Gaza stop; that Israel accepts a humanitarian pause that allows the release of the hostages held by Hamas (many have already died in captivity) and that the entry of humanitarian aid be increased in quantities appropriate to the needs of the population.

Israel controls the shipment of humanitarian aid. Not enough water, food and medicine are entering Gaza. These acts of the Hebrew state add to the genocide that the world condemns.

This Monday, a Hamas delegation is in Cairo within the framework of negotiations in the context of a mediation in which Qatar, Egypt and delegations of senior officials from Israel and the United States participate.

Will there be a humanitarian pause that will stop the massacres of the population for a certain time? No one knows if this may be possible in the short term.
