GANTZ RESIGNS AND CREATES A POLITICAL CRISIS IN ISRAEL

The centrist politician, Benny Gantz, blew up Israel's “war government” this Sunday, by resigning due to the differences that separate him from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

This is an internal political crisis in Israel, but it could have unexpected consequences if, as Gantz calls for, a general election is held and Netanyahu and his Likud party are defeated given the unpopularity of the current head of government.

The differences between the radical, Netanyahu, and Gantz are known. The first maintains continuing the war in Gaza at any cost, regardless of the massacres of Palestinian civilians. Gantz considers that a “total military victory” in the Palestinian enclave is impossible and he calls for negotiations for a ceasefire.

Gantz believes that the conditions for a total defeat of Hamas do not exist in Gaza, although it is true that the terrorist group has been greatly weakened. But removing it from the face of the earth seems highly unlikely.

Another difference that divides them is defining who will govern Gaza when the war ends. Gantz is in favor of Palestinians being part of the future government, while Netanyahu wants the territory to be run by the armed forces and, in any case, without the presence of Palestinians, including the National Authority of Mahmoud Abbas.

The centrist politician also points out that the release of 4 hostages in the hands of Hamas has resulted in the massacre of 270 Palestinians, a devastating figure that once again confirms Netanyahu's decision not to preserve the lives of civilians, including women and children. .

In this context, Secretary of State Antony Blinken returns to the Middle East this week to continue pressing for a ceasefire in Gaza. The first interviews of the American politician will be held in Qatar and Egypt, mediating countries between Israel and Hamas, which the paranoid Netanyahu has come to attack for being disloyal.

The United States wants the UN Security Council to approve President Joe Biden's peace plan and order it to be implemented. But history shows that Netanyahu will mock the Council and ignore the American protector of him.
