ISMAIL HANIYEH KILLED IN TEHRAN
Very hard blow for the political branch of Hamas. The head of this organization Ismal Haniyeh, who lived under protection in Qatar, was assassinated this morning in Tehran, without the details of this assassination being known for now. His presence in Iran was due to participate in a ceremony for the new president of the Islamic state, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Israel has killed a large number of Hamas leaders, outside and inside Gaza. Haniyeh's wife and son were murdered months ago while leaving the refugee camp where he was staying.
Hamas knew pertinently that the government it presides, Benjamin Netanyahu, is characterized by the constant search for the location of his “enemies”, using all the resources of the Mossad and other secret services. Despite this, Haniyeh had traveled to Cairo and Tehran several times, within the framework of negotiations to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
The only thing that is known so far is that Haniyeh and a member of his security fell into an ambush when leaving the home where they were in the Iranian capital. His death is bad news for the “ayatollah” government because they have failed to protect a leader of the stature of the political head of Hamas.
This murder will complicate the situation of generalized war that exists in Gaza and that already affects Lebanon; where Israel carried out an attack on one of the suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday, with the intention of assassinating Fuad Shkr, one of the commanders of military operations of the movement supported by Iran. Israel claims that this Hezbollah soldier was responsible for the attack on the Golan Heights occupied by the Jewish state, in which 12 children died, according to Tel Aviv.
The deaths of Shkr and Haniyeh will spark new operations by Hamas and Hizbollah against Israel. The Middle Eastern panorama at the moment is very serious. Peace talks are moving away and hatred is spreading to limits that herald a horizon of generalized crisis.
