HATE AND INFAMY
Today, international diplomacy is a set of good disciplines and a dark side represented by hatred and infamy. One of the most prominent examples of this negative aspect remains that given by the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Israel Katz, who a few days ago attacked Spain again in a fierce criticism of the Foreign Affairs Commissioner, Josep Borrell, accusing him of being “an accomplice of Iran”.
Borrell, a Spanish national, will leave his post in the next few days and will be replaced by the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas. But the Israeli minister has not taken this into account and has developed a strong campaign against Borrell, stating on the social network X that he is in favour of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state “which can only be a terrorist”.
It is Katz's style, to use hatred and infamy to spread his disagreement with any personality that supports the Palestinians; Spain condemns the actions of the Jewish state in Gaza, and does not blindly support the policy of Netanyahu and his government.
From the moment Spain declared that it recognized a Palestinian state, Katz attacked President Pedro Sánchez, accusing him of supporting Hamas terrorism and stating that the Palestinians have the right to have an independent state, with its capital in the eastern part of Al-Qods. It must be taken into account that the qualification of Hamas as “terrorist” is correct and cannot be questioned in light of what happened on October 7.
Since then, relations between Tel Aviv and Madrid have entered into an escalation of accusations. Katz reproaches Spain for not condemning Iran for sending hypersonic missiles to the Huthis in Yemen, as the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom have done. Tehran has denied that it has sent such weapons to the Yemeni radical movement.
As can be seen, Katz practices a diplomacy that has nothing to do with the discretion, tact and prudence that has always been and continues to be traditional in the vast majority, if not all, countries. Israel breaks the mold and attacks with excessive fury those who criticize it. To claim that Spain is complicit with Iran is an absurdity that the Israeli minister forgets with his infamy about Borrell.
Israel not only disproportionately attacks Hamas and Hezbollah; it also maintains a line of violent demonstrations, preferably using social networks. And in this framework it is Katz who shows his hatred and infamy towards those who condemn the Hebrew state.
Of course, Katz has never referred to the massacres suffered in Gaza, nor to the bombings of hospitals, schools and refugee camps. For the Jewish minister all of these are “acts of defense” that have nothing to do with the internationally condemned genocide.
Meanwhile, the war in Gaza shows signs of continuing without any solution. Hamas leader Yahya Sinouar said on Monday that they are prepared to wage a long war of usury in an attempt to “break Israel’s will.”
