
TUNISIAN PRESIDENT EXPRESSES REJECTION OF AFRICAN EMIGRANTS On Tuesday, the Tunisian president, Kais Saied, indicated during a meeting of the national security council devoted to the rise of illegal immigration, that the phenomenon is the result of a plot aimed at changing the demographic composition of Tunisia in order to extract to the Arab-Muslim sphere. In his statement, he also accused migrants of many wrongdoings, in a context where anti-migrant discourse was becoming commonplace in Tunisia. Kais Saied's remarks were described as racist slippage by nternational organizations. The most striking reaction was that of the African Union, of which Tunisia is a member.
